Witness the Greatest Wildlife Spectacle on Earth
From July through October, nature stages its most dramatic performance in East Africa. More than 1.5 million wildebeest, joined by 400,000 zebra, 12,000 eland, and hundreds of thousands of Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, surge north from the southern Serengeti into the Maasai Mara. Guided by the rains, these vast herds complete an 800-kilometer clockwise journey in search of fresh, mineral-rich grass and water—creating the largest mammal migration on the planet.
For photographers, this is peak season: golden light, dust-filled horizons, intense predator–prey encounters, and unforgettable river crossings combine to deliver truly extraordinary images.
