Join us for an unforgettable exploration of one of Europe’s most captivating coastlines—the Portuguese coast. This stunning region offers a perfect blend of lush landscapes, diverse wildlife, and dramatic cliff formations, with towering sea stacks rising from the Atlantic Ocean. Along this scenic stretch, you’ll discover charming fishing villages, historic towns, and pristine beaches nestled within protected nature reserves, creating an ideal escape into the beauty of nature.

Our 10-day, 9-night Photography tour begins with a photo shoot of the iconic Vasco da Gama Bridge in Lisbon. From there, we’ll journey south to the Algarve, renowned for its awe-inspiring cliffs, hidden coves, and crystal-clear waters—some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in the Iberian Peninsula. Imagine golden cliffs meeting azure waters, cozy beaches surrounded by charming old towns, and endless photo opportunities at every turn. Much of the Algarve remains delightfully unspoiled, and we’ll spend the next three nights in Lagos, a picturesque town with narrow cobblestone streets, quaint churches, and a rich cultural heritage.

Next, we’ll head to Nazaré, a scenic village in the Oeste region, famous for its record-breaking surf waves. Nazaré’s beach is not only a surfer’s paradise but also one of the oldest fishing communities in Portugal, steeped in vibrant traditions. Here, you might even encounter fishmongers still wearing the traditional seven skirts. We’ll spend one night in this beautiful coastal town, capturing its timeless charm.

Our journey continues to Aveiro, often referred to as the “Venice of Portugal” due to its scenic canals and colorful boats. This vibrant city, set along the picturesque Ria de Aveiro lagoon, is a haven for photographers, offering stunning views of art nouveau buildings and intricately decorated tile facades. Nearby Costa Nova Beach, with its iconic striped fishermen’s cottages, is another photographic gem—these charming homes, once used for storage, are now picturesque living spaces lining the beach.

Porto, Portugal’s second-largest city, lies nestled along the banks of the Douro River. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Porto is famous for its historic Ribeira district, ancient buildings, and the striking Dom Luís I Bridge. This vibrant city, with its bustling harbor, offers endless photographic opportunities. During our three-night stay near Porto, we’ll also focus on long-exposure seascapes at nearby coastal locations.

From Porto we will make our way back to Lisbon with a stop in Cascais – a beautiful coastal town known for its charming blend of historic architecture, scenic beaches, and vibrant cultural scene. We will spend our last night at the Ibis Lisboa Parque das Nações.

Throughout this 10-day photographic adventure, we’ll take you to both well-known landmarks and hidden gems, giving you ample opportunity to capture the essence of Portugal’s rich history and natural beauty. Our expert guides will offer hands-on instruction, covering topics such as composition, filter usage, shutter speed, aperture settings, histograms, and much more. Whether you’re a hobbyist, a mobile phone photographer, or a seasoned professional, this tour will help you enhance your skills and add stunning new images to your portfolio.

Relatively easy but good footwear needed. Most locations and viewpoints are close to where we will be parked. There may be some walking on uneven terrain which could be wet and muddy, and some locations are hilly. Good sturdy, water resistant boots are advised.

Best place to fly to is Lisbon Airport. If coming from the UK or within Europe, you can find flights at Easyjet or Wizz Air or Ryanair.

Hotel is easily accessible from Lisbon airport by train, Uber or taxi

The weather can be quite cold this time of year, and the mornings and evenings colder, so warm clothes. Ideally layers that you can remove or put on as we’ll be shooting before sunrise and after sunset, in the dark, when it will be colder. Bring wet weather gear and a raincover for your camera equipment.
