Slovenia & Croatia– discover the magic of an area that attracts travelers and photographers from near and far. Join us on this 7 day, 6 night photography workshop and tour. During our journey we will visit and discover a variety of alluring photography spots, such as cascading waterfalls and gorges, romantic churches, tranquil lakes, stunning mountainscapes and more. Each location will offer different possibilities to learn and expand upon photography skills such as composition, working with long exposures, polarizers, neutral density filters and more.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The exceptional natural beauty of this area has always attracted nature lovers. Within the boundaries of this heavily forested national park, 16 crystalline lakes tumble into each other via a series of waterfalls and cascades. The mineral-rich waters carve through the rock, depositing tufa in continually changing formations. 11 miles (18km) of wooden footbridges and pathways  snake around the edges and across the rumbling water – It’s exquisitely scenic – so much so that in 1979 Unesco proclaimed it a World Heritage Site.

Lake Bled has been named as one of the world’s most beautiful lakes and not without good reason – this charming location surrounded by mountains and a fairytale castle perched on a hillside overlooking a 17th century church on an island, is an outstandingly mesmerizing and picturesque place.

Triglav National Park and Bohinj is a paradise valley embraced by the Julian Alps. Lake Bohinj with its tranquil vibe, lies in the heart of the Triglav National Park, one of the oldest national parks in Europe. It is the largest Slovenian natural lake, nested at the foot of unspoiled and captivating mountains ranges.

Vintgar Gorge in Slovenia’s Julian Alps is one of the most beautiful gorges in the world. The 1.6-kilometre long gorge is carved amidst stunning vertical walls, and it is highlighted by waterfalls, pools and rapids.

Jasna Lake is surrounded by mighty mountains and offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks of the Julian Alps. The lake is guarded by a statue of a Zlatorog (golden horn), the legendary chamois of Mt. Triglav.

In addition to guiding you to the best sights, we offer photographic tuition; you will learn different techniques to best photograph lakes, mountains, waterfalls and return home with some outstanding images. Tuition will cover composition, shutter speeds, working with filters, apertures, and understanding histograms. We will include post-processing sessions to review your images. All levels of photography are welcome; whether you are a hobby enthusiast, a cell phone shooter, or a seasoned professional looking for new photographic opportunities.

There will be some walking on uneven terrain which could be wet and muddy, and some locations are hilly. Good sturdy, water resistant boots are advised.

The weather can be quite cool this time of year, so bring warm clothes. Ideally layers that you can remove or put on as we’ll be shooting before sunrise and after sunset, in the dark, when it will be colder. Bring wet weather gear and a raincover for your camera equipment.
