Lakes

One of our destinations for this photography tour is the Plitvice Lakes National Park, a fabulous waterworld consisting of 16 interconnected lakes surrounded by beautiful cascades, streams, rivers and numerous waterfalls. The Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia.

Lake Bled has been named as one of the world’s most beautiful lakes and not without good reason – this charming location surrounded by mountains and a fairytale castle perched on a hillside overlooking a 17th century church on an island, is an outstandingly mesmerizing and picturesque place.

A natural wonder

Plitvice Lakes National park was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 in recognition of its outstanding natural value. It is protected by strict conservation measures to preserve the ecological integrity of the area.

The lakes sit in the mountainous region of Croatia, between the Mala Kapela mountain range in the west and northwest, and the Lička Plješivica range to the southeast.

Beautiful colors

The water at Plitvice Lakes spans from azure to green, gray, or blue, influenced by its mineral composition and aquatic organisms. The park showcases a succession of waterfalls, notably the renowned Veliki Slap (Great Waterfall), towering at around 78 meters (256 feet) in height.

In Slovenia Jasna Lake is surrounded by mighty mountains and offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks of the Julian Alps. The lake is guarded by a statue of a Zlatorog (golden horn), the legendary chamois of Mt. Triglav.

Trails and walkways

We can explore the Plitvice park through its network of wooden boardwalks and trails that take you easily around the lakes and waterfalls. These pathways provide stunning viewpoints for us to photograph from.

Lake Bled’s best viewpoint is from a wooden boardwalk and from a point high above;  we will guide you to select the best vantage point to create fabulous images.
